On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, former NASA Astronaut Leland Melvin spoke to more than 600 students from Granite City, Madison, and Venice high schools about the importance of STEM learning. The MJCHF partnered with the Regional Superintendent of Education, SIUE, and Lewis & Clark Community College to host Melvin at the Granite City High School Auditorium. Melvin spoke on the importance of not shying away from math and science (STEM), staying focused, staying true to your dreams, and overcoming life’s obstacles and challenges.
His message was well received among the students.
